What is the connection between the Highgate HitList and HighgateHQ?

Many of you will be familiar with the free Highgate HitList which for some years has regularly dropped into your email inbox bringing you advice about forthcoming Highgate events.

With the advent of a charge being imposed on the HitList by the email distribution platform, HighgateHQ was conceived to create an income stream to fund the HitList and so ensure it remains free.

HighgateHQ is an umbrella website for both:

the Highgate HitList [free] and for
the HQ Hub [£24 per year]; in the HQ Hub you will find Newsletters from Highgate organisations, information about local Consultations and Campaigns, and our pièce de résistance The Highgate Village Broadsheet - a monthly online community newspaper bursting with local narratives, news, views, and reviews, as informed and opinionated as the neighbourhood it represents. The first issue of the Highgate Village Broadsheet is reproduced below.

Lovely Piera on the steps of her shop, Cancer Research, in Highgate. The shop has just had a facelift so looking very fresh, tho still waiting for new lettering above the front window. The shop has been rearranged inside and is now smaller so not taking books or CDs any longer, but ready to welcome your donations of clothes and small household items - so now is the time to make a start on that pre-winter declutter you have been planning!

A gorgeous morning in Highgate but our enjoyment of our neighbourhood marred once again by roadworks and malfunctioning temporary traffic lights. You wouldn’t read about it - once again the temporary lights failed, outside Sacred Distillery and Hilltop Beauty Salon. You will see in the first photo an intrepid local who unhesitatingly sacrificed her own safety to step into the middle of the road and control traffic - and this during a bright glaring sunrise when visibility for downhill traffic was already compromised. Big thanks to C. Please like to show your support.

So just when we thought we’d been blessed with a brief reprieve from roadworks in the High Street, these works on behalf of Virgin appeared without warning this morning, narrowing the road to one lane, and causing the usual noise, dust and traffic chaos. I’m beginning to suspect that Highgate High Street has more roadworks throughout the year than any other street in Great Britain!

OMG! More roadworks coming soon in Highgate High St on Monday 28th Oct. Apparently something is being done to the roundabout at the junction of the High St and Southwood Lane. The sign says it’s just for one day …… let’s hope so!
